In honor of Pride Parade this weekend, we reached out to PMK Floral Arts, an LGBT-owned floral design business, to create a celebratory, Pride-themed bouquet for us. Peter Krask, the mind behind PMK Floral Arts and the Today Show’s long-time floral designer, put together a spectacular bouquet using vivid purple hydrangeas, adventurous sarracenia, imperial red peonies, and coppery roses. Rather than go for what one might expect out of a Pride bouquet (a rainbow), Krask sought out an unexpected mix for inspiration. “I looked for what would be colorful and exuberant– what would be an interesting combination of things too. It’s a nice metaphor, in a way, of pulling in different, unrelated things that form a community.”

Meet Peter M. Krask, owner of PMK Floral Arts, and resident floral designer at NBC’s Today show. Yes, he designs those weddings for all of Rockefeller Plaza (12, and counting!) and 6 million viewers, and everything in between, from a Chinese New Year segment, to the floral decor for an interview with a president, or a movie star.

I've been fortunate to meet all sorts of wonderfully interesting people during my time at the Today show, including Peter Krask. He's been the residential floral designer at the show for over fourteen years, and is the recipient of an award from the American Institute of Floral Design for his work there. His corporate clients include NBC, Sony, Universal Pictures and the Gap. He is the featured designer for The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers, and his arrangements have also appeared in the national magazines Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Us Weekly.
